Polyamory / Consensual Non-Monogamy Therapy

Do you identify as polyamorous or non-monogamous? Have you felt ashamed or ostracized because of your relational life or sexuality? Are you looking for a therapist who supports you without treating your poly identity as "the problem"?

I started this practice to offer supportive, positive therapy to the polyamorous community, and I work with individuals, dyad couples, and poly couples from all over the Seattle area and beyond.

Three people's hands intertwined, representing connection across multiple partners

You may be here because…

  • You identify as polyamorous or non-monogamous and want a therapist who gets it
  • You're exploring polyamory for the first time
  • You're navigating jealousy, insecurity, or relational stress within a poly structure
  • A friend, family member, or previous therapist has treated your relationship style as unhealthy

What is poly-knowledgeable therapy?

Like kink-friendly therapy, poly-knowledgeable therapy offers a safe, aware, judgment-free space to talk about your relational needs and sexual preferences. People with non-traditional relationship structures are sometimes shamed by friends, family, or previous therapists who see polyamory itself as the problem, rather than helping with what the client actually wants support with.

A poly-knowledgeable therapist recognizes that relational and sexual preferences exist on a spectrum, and that polyamory is a normal part of that spectrum. Work in this space can include coping with relational stressors like breakups or moving in together, setting healthy boundaries, increasing confidence and wellbeing, learning to communicate needs, and support exploring polyamory for the first time.

Common reasons people reach out

  • Wanting a therapist who won't treat polyamory as the problem
  • Navigating jealousy, insecurity, or compersion within a poly relationship
  • Coping with breakups or relationship transitions in a poly structure
  • Setting boundaries and communicating needs across multiple partners
  • Exploring polyamory or consensual non-monogamy for the first time
  • Support as an individual, a couple, or a wider poly network

How SkyeBlu approaches this work

As a poly-knowledgeable therapist, the goal is a safe, judgment-free space to discover and express yourself, without your relationship structure being treated as the diagnosis. Sessions draw on Person-Centered (Rogerian) therapy so you feel heard and respected, along with psychoanalytic ideas, art therapy, mindfulness, and somatic techniques.

Sex therapy elements can be integrated as needed for issues related to sexuality, and this work is available to individuals, dyad couples, and poly couples.
