I started this practice so members of the kink community could get supportive, positive therapy, because no one should feel ashamed of who they are.

You may be here because…

  • You identify as kinky and want a therapist who won't pathologize it
  • You're new to kink and want support exploring it safely
  • You and a partner have mismatched interest in kink and want to navigate it together
  • You've felt embarrassed or alone because of your sexual preferences

What is kink-friendly therapy?

People with diverse sexual preferences often feel alienated or embarrassed, and not every therapist is trained in or comfortable with sexual diversity. This is especially true for BDSM and other stigmatized preferences, which some therapists still treat as pathology rather than a normal part of the sexual spectrum.

A kink-aware therapist recognizes that sexual preferences exist on a spectrum, and that kink or BDSM-play is a normal part of that spectrum. Work in this space can include destigmatizing paraphilias and fetishes, setting healthy boundaries, increasing confidence and pleasure, learning to communicate needs, integrating kink with your sense of self, understanding safe, sane, and consensual practices, and navigating relationships where partners don't share the same interest in kink.

Common reasons people seek kink-friendly therapy

  • Wanting to explore kink for the first time, safely
  • Shame or stigma around kink or BDSM interests
  • Navigating a relationship where only one partner is kinky
  • Setting boundaries and communicating needs around kink
  • Integrating kink identity with your broader sense of self
  • Understanding safe, sane, and consensual practices

How SkyeBlu approaches this work

As a kink-aware therapist, the goal is a safe, judgment-free space to discover and express yourself. Sessions draw on Person-Centered (Rogerian) therapy so you feel heard, respected, and accepted, along with psychoanalytic ideas, art therapy, metaphor, or a sand tray, plus mindfulness and somatic techniques.

Sex therapy elements can be woven in as needed for issues related to sexuality, and this work often overlaps with couples counseling when a partner is involved.
